Getting the Most From the Cycle Tracker Template

A cycle journal keeps one dated record of where you are in your cycle and what you noticed that day — energy, mood, sleep, cramps, cravings. Logged consistently for a few months, it gives you your own entries to read back instead of trying to remember. Reading anything into the pattern is a conversation for you and a doctor, not something this template does for you.

Tips & common pitfalls

  • Log daily, even one word. The value is in the unbroken pattern, not any single day’s detail.
  • Track mood and energy, not just physical symptoms. The emotional pattern across the month is often the most useful part.
  • Note the obvious confounders too — a bad night’s sleep or a stressful week can look like a cycle symptom.
  • Bring a few months of logs to a doctor’s appointment; concrete records are far more useful than trying to remember.

Example entry

Cycle day: 22
Flow: none
Mood: irritable, low patience, 4/10
Energy: low — wanted to cancel everything
Symptoms: bloating, restless sleep
Note: matches last month almost exactly; plan lighter weeks here.
